Tools of my trade – antique typewriter, Portobello Road London July 2011

Portobello Road Market, London, bills itself as the world’s largest antique market and is definitely one of the best-known street markets in the world.  Although shops on the street are open every day, it’s on Saturday when the market comes alive with street traders.  As you walk along the road from end to end, you pass through the news goods section, the fashion section, the food and produce section, the finally my favourite: the antiques section where I found this antique typewriter.  It is my favourite way to spend a Saturday, and is also prop heaven for food bloggers :)

This is part of a series of non-food photographs that will be published every Saturday on CookSister – previously featured photographs can be viewed on the Saturday Snapshots archive pages. Photos featured in Saturday Snapshots are available to buy as high-quality greeting cards or prints in my RedBubble store, or even as gorgeous A3-size calendars.

If you want a custom calendar with your own selection of photos, starting with any month (not only January), please e-mail me and we can discuss your requirements.  They make great gifts, for friends, family or for yourself.

I am sure London would be an antique collector’s paradise. I would love to spend some more time in London.

Oh this photo delights me. :-) I’m so fond of old typewriters. :-)
