Loving the South African recipes - this looks fantastic - perfect World Cup watching fodder (even though SA and Aus are both out of it)

Jane-Anne

Lovely, informative post - you write so affectionately and evocatively about South Africa, Jeanne. Lovely pics too! Don't agree with the football being 'so-so', unless he's referring to the England team! x

nina

Pls tell me you have your own pot in England...that is great!! Love the vegetable curry....we are eating far too much meat at the moment!!

ebl

Your posts just make me proud to be South African. Every time! :)

Firefly

I make the odd potjie, but have never tried this type of dish

bellini valli

It sounds delicious Jeanne. I'd be interested in learning this new cooking method but not likely to find a potjiekos here in Canada.

Rosa

Oh, yummy! That curry looks so delicious! An interesting way of cooking...

Cheers,

Rosa

Marisa

And there she goes, educating the masses about our beloved country yet again! No wonder you're one of our most famous exports. :-)

Enjoyed reading your potjie tips & tricks - I didn't even know half of them.

Edeth | Dinnerware

I'm extremely jealous of your friends World Cup experience. "Braai" ---- a new word to me!

MikeW

In the US, we'd call the potjie a Dutch Oven.

The legless version for use on a stovetop or in the oven is called that too, but the legged cast iron versions are still around.

Nic

Oh those potjies are cool, great design. The vegetable dish looks like it has loads of flavour and is very satisfying.

Jamie

I love this dish! Wow it looks so rich and thick and full of flavors! Love it, Jeanne! I love that you've given us a great vegetable recipe. This would be a great main course.

Sarah, Maison Cupcake

I love curried anything, I was intrigued to see what these were and had expected some kind of fried fritter but maybe I'm getting mixed up with dutch word for pancakes?!

Niamh

Oh - LOVELY! I must try these.

jose

it looks nice ..love it ,more from Pursefocus.com

You're making me homesick! I am in the process of introducing Potjiekos to the south of France with lots of success. The sceptical looks are always washed away by the delicious food. Must post my lamb and port potjie recipe...

Kit

Thank you, thank you, thank you for those instructions for preparing the potjie to use. We've had one sitting in the corner of the kitchen for a couple of years now, because I was scared of doing it wrong. Now I might actually get around to using it! This recipe sounds wonderful too.

Emma

Fantastic recipe, many thanks!
