Saturday Snapshots #31

Robberg-Beach-Driftwood

Driftwood on Robberg Beach, Plettenberg Bay – February 2008

I have been coming to Plettenberg Bay and walking on Robberg Beach since I was about four years old.  It is one of the most beautiful places on earth, and the one place I know where I will always find solace from all that is troubling me.

The 6 kilometre stretch of golden sand is bounded on the one side by the Robberg Peninsula nature reserve, home to colony of over 5,000 Cape fur seals; and on the other by the spectacular Beacon Island Hotel (visible on the horizon above the driftwood).

And why am I posting such a sunny South African picture?  Because by the time you read this… that’s where I will be for a 2-week break!  .

Saturday Snapshots is a series of non-food photographs published Saturdays on CookSister. Previously featured photographs can be viewed on the Saturday Snapshots archive pages. Many photos featured in Saturday Snapshots are available to buy as high-quality greeting cards or prints in my RedBubble store

What an amazing photo, Jeanne! I used to love gathering driftwood on the beach at home. It made such lovely colours in the flames when we used it to start the fire at Granny’s house. However… our driftwood looked like twigs in comparison to the great hunks of wood in your photo—wow!
    Have a wonderful holiday!

I just found your blog, and I’m so excited I did! It’s just wonderful. I can’t wait to keep reading more–although we’ll all be missing you for your two-week break. South Africa sounds like a wonderful place to spend a nice break!! Enjoy the sun!

Have a wonderful holiday! You and Charlotte will be in SA at the same time. Wouldn’t it be wild if you ran into each other on Plettenburg Beach?

This beach could be the west coast of the south island of NZ. Beautiful.
