Café, Chihuahua, Mexico – October 2005
Ask most tourists to Mexico which part of the country they have visited and they will usually reply Cancun, that decidedly un-traditional Mexican collection of modern tourist hotels and apartments on the Yucatan peninsula. But not us – we went to Chihuahua (which beaming Mexicans in the US told us was "the real Mexico"). No, we didn't come across a pofusion of small dogs being carried around in handbags, but we did encounter extraordinarily friendly and welcoming people, and a feast for the eyes, like this café in its gorgeous warm colours.
