Saturday Snapshots #33

Up where we belong, Vienna August 2007

I spotted these umbrellas on the roof terrace of a swanky building in Vienna, right opposite the spectacular St Stephen's cathedral, and caught myself thinking "why aren't I up there, sipping cafe melange and nibbling on Sachertorte in the sun"?  I love the simplicity of the shapes and the gentle curve of the building.

This is part of a series of non-food photographs that will be published every Saturday on CookSister. one day, when you’re feeling rich, you might want to stay at the hotel, too – you took a picture of the roof terrace of Haas Haus, which on top still has the Do & Co restaurant, but floors underneath have been converted into a hotel. i spent a weekend there in their opening days (when henrik was just 3 months) and not only is the hotel beautifully done up, the location is also unbeatable: right opposite st. stephen’s cathedral, and our room has a balcony giving out onto the gentle madness that unfolds there during the day and evening – brilliant!
