Saturday Snapshots #13

London-City-Hall

City Hall – London 2008

The Greater London Authority City Hall stands on the South Bank of the Thames, right by Tower Bridge (you can see the bridge supports on the left).  Purpose-designed by Foster and Partners (who also designed The Gherkin), it is has no traditional front or back and is designed as a hybrid sphere to minimise the surface area exposed to direct sunlight.  This means lower air-conditioning costs and overall it is a very eco-friendly building.

To my husband, though, it’s known only as The Testicle.

🙂
