Announcing a London food styling and photography workshop, 1-2 May 2015

LondonFoodPhotographyWorkshop

Are you a keen traveller who loves to record your foodie adventures at restaurants and markets on camera? Or a food blogger who is frustrated by having an idea of the photos you want to take but never being able to capture the look you are after? Or maybe you are looking to up your styling game to get into selling stock food photography? Or maybe you just want to learn to photograph food like a pro at home and in restaurants? Then this one’s for you.

I am thrilled to announce that I am once again teaming up with food photographer, stylist and blogger Meeta Khurana-Wolff to present a 2-day intensive, hands-on food styling and photography workshop.  In April 2015, we are teaching in Vienna – but in May we are returning to London for the first time since 2013 to present a workshop in this vibrant and creatively stimulating city where inspiration lies around every corner. The venue will be the regal and elegant Linden House, an 18th Century Grade II listed merchant’s house directly on the Thames in west London between Hammersmith and Chiswick. Step inside its beautiful Georgian facade and you will find state-of-the art yet character-filled meeting facilities and rooms flooded with natural light – a food photographer’s dream.  Here we will spend our two intensive days, learning the finer points of food photography and styling as well as shooting food both in indoor and outdoor locations, and enjoying a riverside picnic lunch in nearby Furnival gardens.  Our dinner will be at nearby character-filled The Hampshire Hog, one of the gastropubs serving modern British classics for which London is rightly famous.  The pub will provide the setting for one of our on-location photo shoots focusing on restaurant photography and low-light photography – something which has frustrated most of us at some point!

Meeta and I, both experienced tutors, have put together a full and inspiring programme for you, aiming to provide you not only with tuition but also the chance to try things hands-on and receive feedback from both the tutors and the group. Our programme will contain all the elements that you will need to hone your food photography skills, from mastering the manual settings on your camera to making the most of available light; as well as negotiating the abundance of information available on food styling to help you make the most of props, colour and shape in order to create a beautiful set-up for capturing mouthwatering and distinctive food images; and of course the basics of post-processing and workflow. Your tutors will be on hand to guide you throughout the entire course of the workshop, encouraging you to think about how you create a mood – dark and dramatic or crisp and light – and how to develop your own unique style. We feel that the price is competitive compared to other food photography/styling courses in London as it includes at least  14 hours of tuition and practicals from two experienced tutors.  Most of all we want this to be a fun-filled 2 days for our participants, with good food, drink and an exchange of knowledge and experience so that when you go back home you are not only equipped with the know-how to create beautiful images for your blog posts or articles – but you also feel creatively inspired and have established a new network of like-minded friends.
