WTSIM theme, more of my writing, and a BloggerAid event

So – have we all survived the festive season with sanity, digestion and family relationships approximately intact??

It's a bit of an anticlimax, after all the manic build-up to Christmas, to find ourselves at the tail-end of December, contemplating another few months of winter (if you're in the northern hemisphere like me!) and wondering what happened to all the good intentions with which you started the year.  So to take your mind off all of that, here are a few random announcements:

Waiter, There's Something in My… bookmarked WTSIM recipe!

Yes, even the WTSIM team (namely me, Johanna and Andrew) need a little break sometimes.  So instead of the usual monthly theme, Andrew has decided to do it like this in December:  we each nominate a theme from one of the past WTSIM themes (Johanna picks for me, I pick for Andrew, and Andrew picks for Johanna), and then each of us has to bookmark and make a recipe from that month's roundup (not our own!).  Originally we envisaged just the three of us participating, but if any of you feel like playing along, please leave me a comment and I will pick a past WTSIM theme from which you can select a recipe to make.  All entries to go to Andrew by early January.

My writing elsewhere

A month or so ago, I was asked to write an article for Galavanting, a travel magazine for women.  The piece I did suggests a quick itinerary covering all the highlights of South Africa's famous Garden Route.  Check out my restaurant recommendations, travel tips, and even some of my photographs!

BloggerAid event – Because We Can Help

Giz from Equal Opportunity Kitchen is hosting a BloggerAid event to raise awareness of world hunger, and to encourage people to donate to the UN World Food Programme.  All you have to do is post a recipe that you would feed to hungry guests visiting your home over the holidays, and to remind your readers that not everyone enjoys the luxury of enough food on their table to feed themselves, let alone a guest.  But hurry – the deadline is 28 December!

Have a lovely weekend!
